Sekumpul Waterfall in North Bali is widely regarded as the most magnificent waterfall on the island. A cluster of seven cascades plunges into a lush gorge surrounded by dense tropical jungle — the scale and setting are simply unlike anything else in Bali. The trek down to the falls requires some fitness but rewards you with cool mist, emerald pools, and an extraordinary natural amphitheatre.
The trek involves a steep descent of around 30 minutes (and the same back up) via stone steps and jungle paths. It is manageable for most people with a moderate fitness level. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water.
A local guide is required and available at the entrance. They are knowledgeable, helpful with navigation, and the fee goes directly to the local community — it's worth it.
Absolutely. The drive takes about 2–2.5 hours from Seminyak/Kuta, but Sekumpul is genuinely one of the most awe-inspiring natural sites in Bali. Most guests say it's the highlight of their trip.
Yes, you can wade in the shallow pools at the base of some cascades. The water is cool and refreshing, though conditions vary by season.
Many tours combine Sekumpul with Gitgit Waterfall, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, and the North Bali coast — making for a full-day adventure.
