Perched 70 metres above the Indian Ocean on Bali's Bukit Peninsula, Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of Bali's six directional temples and a site of profound spiritual importance. The clifftop setting is extraordinary — crashing waves far below, soaring eagles overhead, and an open-air amphitheatre where the mesmerising Kecak Fire Dance is performed every evening at sunset. This is one of Bali's most theatrical and unforgettable experiences.
The Kecak is a uniquely Balinese ritual performance in which a chorus of 100+ men chant "cak" rhythmically while enacting scenes from the Hindu Ramayana epic. Performed at sunset on the cliff, it is one of the most atmospheric cultural shows in all of Asia.
The performance begins at 18:00 and lasts approximately 60–75 minutes. Arrive by 17:30 to secure a good seat — later arrivals may only find spots on the outer edge.
The temple monkeys are bold and will snatch shiny objects, sunglasses, and food. Keep your belongings secured and do not tease them. Temple staff are on hand to assist if a monkey grabs something.
Uluwatu is about 25 km south of Seminyak — around 45–60 minutes by private car. Our drivers will pick you up from your hotel and drop you back after the Kecak Dance.
Yes — Uluwatu is the perfect final stop on a South Bali day: combine with Tanah Lot at sunset (different circuit), Padang Padang Beach, or the Bukit Peninsula's famous surf spots and cliff-edge restaurants.
