Menjangan Island Bali Diving is a marine activity destination around Menjangan Island, part of the West Bali National Park conservation area. The national park authority identifies the waters around the island as a zone where visitors commonly take part in diving and snorkeling, with eight designated points in the surrounding waters. Indonesia Travel also describes Menjangan as a small island about 10 kilometres northwest of Bali’s mainland and notes its wall-diving sites.
Diving here is a nature activity inside a protected landscape, not a generic boat excursion. Access, permits, park fees, weather, sea conditions, dive points, and operator arrangements can change. Diving experience
Indonesia Travel describes Menjangan as a place known for wall diving, where the underwater terrain drops from the island’s edge into deeper water. A wall site can create a strong sense of depth and requires good buoyancy, reliable air management, and awareness of the boat and other divers. The exact site chosen should match certification, experience, current, visibility, and the guide’s assessment.
Snorkeling and diving are different activities with different risks. A snorkeler should remain on the surface, use a flotation aid where appropriate, and stay with the group. A diver should complete the required buddy checks, carry appropriate equipment, monitor depth and air, and make a controlled ascent with safety stops according to training and the dive plan. Do not exceed certification or personal limits to follow another diver.

Choose a dive centre or boat operator that can explain the current national-park access process, safety equipment, route, emergency plan, and dive sites. Ask how weather or sea conditions affect departure and what happens if a site is changed. Do not book solely from a photograph or a claim about being the best site. The responsible choice is the operator that prioritises safety and conservation.
Before entering the water, check mask, regulator, buoyancy device, cylinder, weights, exposure protection, and surface signalling equipment. Tell the guide about medical conditions, medication, recent illness, fatigue, and experience. Do not dive after consuming alcohol or when unwell. Follow the buddy system, stay within the planned depth and time, and signal early if something feels wrong.

Planning the trip
Boat access is required to reach Menjangan Island from Bali’s mainland. Departure points and travel arrangements depend on the operator and current park access. Confirm the meeting point, launch time, transport, equipment, park and marine fees, and inclusions in writing before departure. Avoid assuming that a general West Bali tour includes a dive or a permit.
The national park and marine area have their own rules. Check whether a park guide, registered boat, entrance ticket, or conservation contribution is required on the date of travel. Fees and procedures can change, especially on Sundays, public holidays, or during weather and management updates. If the operator cannot explain the current requirement, seek clarification before paying.
What to bring
Bring drinking water, sun protection, swimwear, a towel, dry clothing, personal medication, and secure storage for valuables. Divers should bring certification evidence if requested and only carry equipment that the operator has agreed to provide. Keep electronics in a dry bag and avoid loose items on the boat.
Wear reef-safe habits rather than relying on a product label. The most important protection is physical distance from coral and animals. Use reusable containers where possible and take all rubbish back to the mainland or to the disposal system provided by the operator. Do not bring food that could be dropped into the sea or feed wildlife from the boat.

Island and temple context
Menjangan Island is also associated with deer and religious sites, but a diving trip does not automatically provide access to every land area. Stay with the guide, follow landing instructions, and respect any temple, shrine, or ceremony. Dress appropriately when going ashore and do not photograph worshippers or sacred objects without permission.
Do not wander into closed forest, nesting, research, or conservation zones. The island’s protected status means that a short walk on land can have different rules from an organised dive. Ask before touching plants, stones, structures, or offerings, and never remove natural or cultural objects as souvenirs.
Responsible marine tourism
Use established moorings and do not ask a boat crew to anchor on coral. Keep groups small around a sensitive site, maintain distance from wildlife, and do not pursue turtles, rays, fish, or other animals for a photograph. Do not use gloves to handle the reef or take anything from the sea.
Report damaged equipment, lost fishing line, fuel spills, or unsafe behaviour to the operator or park staff. Follow no-take rules and temporary closures. A responsible dive leaves no physical trace and allows other visitors, researchers, and the ecosystem to share the area safely.

The Best Tour Guide in Bali!
We honestly couldn’t recommend Made enough! From start to finish, he was absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to make our trip around Bali so special.
Before we even arrived, Made’s communication was amazing. He helped us plan our whole trip, gave us fantastic advice and recommendations, and really took the time to understand what we wanted to see and do. He made everything so easy and stress-free for us.
Throughout our trip, Made looked after us incredibly well. He picked us up, took us to all the different places we wanted to visit, and even showed us some amazing places we probably wouldn’t have found ourselves. His knowledge of Bali is incredible — he knew so much about every place we visited and was always happy to explain things and answer our questions.
