Use the name Padanggalak or Padang Galak when searching maps and confirm that the route leads to the East Denpasar beach area. It is not Padang-Padang Beach in Pecatu, South Bali. The two names are often confused in online searches, but they are on opposite sides of the island.
What to Expect at Padanggalak Beach
Padanggalak is a wide, dark-sand coastal stretch with a strong horizon and plenty of open space. The shoreline may look different with tide, weather, seasonal debris, ceremonies, and local coastal activity. It is better suited to walking, photography, watching the sea, kite flying, and experiencing a local Sanur edge than to expecting a polished swimming beach with lifeguards and extensive visitor facilities.

Swimming conditions can be variable. Do not enter rough water, swim near boats or kite-flying zones, or assume that calm-looking water is safe. There may be limited shade, changing areas, food stalls, or toilets compared with central Sanur, so arrive prepared and confirm what is open.
Bali Kite Festival at Padanggalak

Padanggalak is famous as a venue for the Bali Kite Festival, when teams bring enormous traditional kites to the coastal wind. Padanggalak is also used for Hindu religious and community ceremonies. Melasti, held before Nyepi, involves the ritual purification of people and sacred objects at the sea. The Best Tour Guide in Bali!
We honestly couldn’t recommend Made enough! From start to finish, he was absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to make our trip around Bali so special.
Before we even arrived, Made’s communication was amazing. He helped us plan our whole trip, gave us fantastic advice and recommendations, and really took the time to understand what we wanted to see and do. He made everything so easy and stress-free for us.
Throughout our trip, Made looked after us incredibly well. He picked us up, took us to all the different places we wanted to visit, and even showed us some amazing places we probably wouldn’t have found ourselves.
