Bali's dramatic volcanic highlands offer some of the most thrilling trekking experiences in Southeast Asia. The Mount Batur sunrise trek — ascending an active volcano in the dark to watch dawn break over Lake Batur and Mount Agung — is a rite of passage for adventurous travellers. Our guided volcanic treks combine physical challenge, natural wonder, and the unique thrill of standing on the rim of an active caldera.
Mount Batur is the most accessible and popular — a 2-hour ascent departing around 03:00 AM for sunrise at the summit. For a longer challenge, Mount Agung (Bali's highest peak at 3,031 m) requires advanced preparation and is for experienced trekkers only.
Yes — guides are mandatory for all Mount Batur treks, regulated by the local guides association (PGMB). Our packages include a certified, English-speaking guide and all necessary equipment.
Moderate fitness is sufficient for Mount Batur — you don't need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable walking uphill for 2 hours. The trail is rocky and steep in places. Most healthy adults manage it comfortably.
Essential items: warm jacket (summit temperature is 10–15 °C), headlamp, 2 litres of water, snacks, closed-toe hiking shoes, and sunscreen for the descent. Our guides carry first aid and emergency equipment.
Yes — Bali offers treks through rice terraces, jungle trails to hidden waterfalls, highland walks in Munduk, and the challenging Mount Agung ascent. We can design multi-day trekking itineraries for serious hikers.
